Love well. Scatter joy.

Sad and devastating news headlines cause heartache for the listener, and are tragic for those actually involved. Some days feel like the bad news is increasingly wrapped in darkness and coated with sadness. We live in a broken world. There are broken people in it. There always has been.

Pray. Love. Give. Hug. Cry. and pray some more.

While not at all a scholar in the area of battles and terror, I have noticed one key thing. When a group of people thinks and speaks about another group of people as if they are no longer fellow humans or “less than”, it can escalate into terrible things when fueled by hate.

By seeing a person or group of people an object, and not a brother or sister, mom, dad, friend, daughter, son… it becomes easier not to value their lives and thus, spread hate like a wildfire. This not only applies to those who kill and massacre, but also less violent situations like harsh isolation, bullying, damaging gossip and other fall outs of hatred.

Pray for those impacted that they find peace and comfort. I have faith that humanity is still good. God is in control. We can still make a difference in this world… one heart at a time.

We are called to love one another. We are made to share joy, scatter joy and love well. Nothing wonderful comes from hate. All wonderful comes from love. Love well. Scatter joy. Be a light.
